Airalzh (Italian Alzheimer's Research Association) is the only Association, nationwide, that promotes Medical and Scientific Research on Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Its ambitious goal is "a tomorrow without Alzheimer's". For this reason, Airalzh is committed to raising funds - invested exclusively in Research - and focusing on young researchers, who are given the opportunity to develop "specific" projects on the disease, grow professionally and develop independent careers. After the AGYR (Airalzh Grants for Young Researchers) 2020 and 2021 calls, which led to the development of 13 projects on the early stages of Alzheimer's disease and lifestyles-prevention, Airalzh has launched the new AGYR 2022 Call for Proposals. The new AGYR 2022 aims to fund, with 300 thousand euros, Research projects on the early stages of Alzheimer and at least one on the topic of "Prevention: lifestyles and Alzheimer's disease." Since 2016, Airalzh, thanks to important Partners, has supported the disbursement of 82 Research grants, which have led to the formation of a national network of young researchers working in 30 Universities and Research Centers of excellence in 15 Italian regions between North and South. In addition, thanks to private donations, independent Grants totaling 600 thousand euros have been established since 2020 that have funded 13 Research projects that are still ongoing. This year Airalzh has also engaged with the Armenise Harvard Foundation in the provision of a $100 thousand grant per year, for two years, aimed at researchers who have arrived in mid-career to support the most interesting basic research in the field of neurodegenerative diseases.
