Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquarium participated again this year in the 24 Hour Global Beach Clean, the initiative organized by SEA LIFE TRUST and Merlin Entertainments to combat plastic pollution. The aquarium's 50 volunteers, including Castelnuovo Mayor Davide Sandrini and Councillor Domenico Pagnotta, collected nearly 18 kilograms of trash along the lakefront beach.
The day was part of a global project, which saw volunteers from around the world engaged in a 24-hour cleanup of beaches, with the goal of surpassing the nearly 3,000 kilograms of waste collected by 2023. Plastic pollution in the oceans, which amounts to about 8 million tons a year, is a major environmental emergency.
Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquarium has always been active in raising awareness of marine environmental protection through edutainment initiatives and concrete projects involving both employees and the local community.
